Week 1: Shipping Container Architecture

Savannah Project, Price Street Projects Florida

The Savannah Project is a great example of using 2 shipping Containers with section added between the two containers to increase square footage.  This home shows how spacious and modern a project like this can be.  From the inside its hard to even tell that you're literally inside 2 shipping containers, the space and architecture created is simply amazing.

Comparisons

The similarities and the comparisons between the two shipping containers that I have shown above. The similarities would be the design approach as they have used the spaces quite nicely to incorporate everything that's needed within the design. They've also designed to incorporate the environment and its surroundings. In regards to bachelor pad design they have really used the exterior space really nicely with the extended deck for extra space and windows all around to allow sundlight and ventilation. As to the Savanna project the usage of space and cross ventilation is one for its major plus points but the exterior space isn't to the level it could be.

Independent Study: Concept of Home

  • A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams...
Home is where there is hope of these things, rest, ambitions, self identity, other people and memories are. When we go home there is always room for hurt and disappointment but it is at home we are able to hope in the best and work towards the ideal 'home'. Room for improvement.
  • He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.
A home is made up of not only the physical structures that inhabit the space for personal living but also memories and feelings.
  • Home is more than a house, an apartment, or any other physical structure. It is a building unit or area, of more or less measurable dimensions, in which a considerable emotional investment is made by the individual.

Home incorporates the house or dwelling that a person lived. It brings together all the emotions and relationships of lives course within the spaces. It shelters all the memories of the ones we have or have lost.
